Does it feel
like you live in fear
of what you might see?
of what you might hear?

Whispered voices on the wind
tell you what you've missed again
of someone who you thought you knew
is what you see just see-through?

No matter how much you trust
the possibilities cut deep
no matter how much you love
the possibilities cost you sleep

You don't want to believe
you don't want to know
because now you will reap
what someone else has sown

The darkest shadows
stalk your mind
No matter how you try
can't seem to leave them behind

Are you really what I've seen?
are you really what you've said?
what skeletons hide in your closet?
what has laid in your bed?

There is no innocence
only degrees of guilt
All the darkness
that hides behind walls we've built

Is the truth always evil?
Is the inside always pain?
Is the darkness doomed to haunt me
and leave me crying in the rain?

Can't we move
beyond mistakes we've made
or will their chill
haunt us to the grave?

Please shatter my illusions
The innocence is all so fake
what really is the truth
and will it prove too much to take?
