"Empty Christmas" by Josh Liller 2005 What is this holiday you speak of? The day your savior was born I see only emptyness around me And it makes my heart feel torn No followers of Jesus aetheists drive them from the land the religous holiday aspect is blown away like sand The businessmen do shill it as if it's some big game "What's the must have toy this year? I must learn its name!" The trees are cut for decoration As part of great displays Pretty yet dying on the inside Symbolism for society's decay A time to exchange gifts you say? But since we both give and recieve Why not everyone buy for themselves rather than decieve? And then there is the great fat man The greatest Christmas lie We feed our kids a great untruth They'll learn before they die. They say Valentine's is singles hell and the poor get no Thanksgiving feast But Christmas seems the most empty For in it I find no peace
